En effet, tantôt qualifiés d’obscènes ou d’excitants, tantôt de naturels ou refaits, les messages entourant la poitrine des femmes sont contradictoires et ô combien stigmatisants. Par exemple, dès la petite enfance comme sur les réseaux sociaux, les mamelons féminins doivent être cachés— « invisibilisés » —, contrairement à ceux des hommes et des garçons, qui ne sont pas vus comme choquants ou excitants.»

“Arranged here and there, these sculptures stand up, like monuments imaging the insatiable obsession of Western societies with breasts, these “anthropometricized” organs judged according to extracorporeal prescripts and dictates. Indeed, sometimes described as obscene or arousing, sometimes as natural or remade, the messages surrounding women's breasts are contradictory and oh so stigmatizing. For example, from early childhood, as on social networks, female nipples must be hidden—“invisibilized”—unlike those of men and boys, which are not seen as shocking or exciting.”
