Rachelle Bussières (b. 1986, Quebec, QC, Canada) is a French-Canadian artist based in New York whose practice investigates perception, time, and the natural world. Her work occupies a space between photography and sculpture, exploring the interplay of nature and humanity, the passage of time, and the fragility of perception. Childhood memories of the wilderness of northeastern Québec, along with experiences living off-grid in Northern California, inform her deep engagement with the rhythms and ancient order of the natural world.

Bussières employs lumen printing, an early photographic technique using light-sensitive silver paper, where images emerge directly through the influence of light, time, and environmental conditions. This analog process allows her to create surfaces in which atmospheric changes are translated into tangible, physical experiences. Her work combines scientific observation with intuitive exploration, offering a sensory and material field that merges contemplation and experimentation.

She holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BA from Université Laval, and has participated in international residencies including the Banff Centre, Penumbra Foundation, Headlands Center for the Arts, and Silver Art Projects. Her work has been widely exhibited across North America and Europe, including the United States, Canada, France, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Turkey. 

Bussières has also been presented at major international art fairs such as Paris Photo, The Photography Show by AIPAD, Untitled Miami, Enter Art Fair, Art Toronto, Future Fair, and EXPO Chicago. Her work is included in public and private collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago), Arter Contemporary Art Museum (Istanbul), and the SFMOMA Library. She has received numerous awards and grants, including second place in the Snider Prize from the Museum of Contemporary Photography, finalist status for the Aperture Portfolio Prize, and multiple grants from the Canada Council for the Arts.

Her work has been featured in publications such as Photomonitor UK, Lenscratch, Hyperallergic, and ArtMaze.

In addition to her studio practice, Bussières is the founder of LUMIERE NYC, a platform dedicated to experimental light-based photographic practices, and has contributed as a visiting lecturer and critic at institutions including Parsons The New School, ICP, and San Francisco Art Institute.
