L’exposition Ephemeral Language / Langue éphémère de l’artiste Sébastien Gaudette est présentée à l’Art Gallery of St. Albert, où le travail de l’artiste est actuellement visible jusqu’au 30 avril 2026.

À travers un ensemble d’installations, de dessins et de sculptures, Sébastien Gaudette explore la matérialité du papier et ses potentialités illusionnistes. En détournant ce matériau à la fois fragile et familier, il développe un langage visuel où le geste, la transformation et la perception occupent une place centrale. Certaines œuvres en aluminium, travaillées pour évoquer des feuilles de papier froissées ou dessinées, prolongent cette réflexion sur la frontière entre légèreté apparente et construction matérielle.

L’exposition réunit également des pièces murales et sculpturales de grande et petite échelle, invitant le regardeur à naviguer entre abstraction, trompe-l’œil et mémoire du geste. Fidèle à sa démarche, l’artiste privilégie un processus intuitif, où l’expérimentation guide la forme plutôt qu’un système préétabli.

The exhibition Ephemeral Language / Langue éphémère by Sébastien Gaudette is presented at the Art Gallery of St. Albert, where the artist’s work is currently on view until April 30, 2026.

Through a series of installations, drawings, and sculptural works, Gaudette investigates the materiality of paper and its capacity for illusion. By reworking this familiar yet fragile medium, he develops a visual language centred on gesture, transformation, and perception. Aluminium pieces that mimic crumpled or drawn paper further extend this inquiry into the tension between visual lightness and material construction.

The exhibition brings together both large- and small-scale works that invite viewers into shifting readings between abstraction, trompe-l’œil, and the trace of gesture. Remaining faithful to his practice, the artist embraces an intuitive process in which experimentation guides form rather than predefined systems.
